Q:    What do I need in order to graduate?

A:    Students need 120 credit hours minimum, which includes: 39 University Core Curriculum hours, 47 Business Core Curriculum hours and between 21-30 credit hours for your Major courses. Everything you need to graduate is listed in the Handbook. Keep it and use it as a tool over the next few years.

Q:    What is University Core Curriculum (UCC) and how can I satisfy UCC requirements?

A:    UCC is the part of a student’s degree designed to provide breadth of understanding beyond one’s major. Refer to the University Core Curriculum section in the Handbook to better determine which courses may be taken to satisfy University Core Curriculum requirements.

Q:    Do I have to see an advisor in order to register?

A:    Yes, all students must see their advisor before their RUN will be released.

Q:    Do I have to get a ‘C’ or better in ________ class?

A:    It depends. What is your major? What is your SIU GPA, BUS GPA, Major GPA? Refer to the major sheets in the handbook.

Q:    What is a BUS GPA?

A:    The BUS GPA and/or major GPA are expressed as + or - points. This is a common system used to indicate the number of positive (+) or negative (-) grade points above or below a “C” grade average. See Glossary of terms in the Handbook.

Q:    Where can I check my personal information?

A:     Salukinet. Refer to page 13 of the Handbook.

Q:    Can I just use my current email address?

A:    No, all College of Business and Analytics students are required to set up an SIU email address. Refer to the E-mail Policy listed on page 15 in the Handbook. Directions are provided to forward e-mail to another address.

Q:    Is it really important to get involved in organizations?

A:    Business student organizations are an important part of the College and provide valuable interaction, knowledge, and experience for those who participate. Networking has proven year after year to be one of the best sources of job opportunities upon graduation.

Q:    When can I register for next semester?

A:    Week eleven and later. Refer to page 16 of the Handbook or on the Registrar's website. Advisement for the next semester will begin in week four of the current semester.
