Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program

NOTE: We are suspending V.I.T.A. services which were previously scheduled for March 21, March 28 and April 4, due to the campus’ suspension of on-campus courses.

We have had another successful year with VITA including great turnout by taxpayers and volunteers. However, due to the large number of taxpayer attendance, we can no longer accept new taxpayer clients this year. Please visit the IRS website, https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free, for additional resources to file your taxes free. Thank you for all of your support!  We look forward to working with you next year!

We will offer free tax help to low-to moderate income ($36,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. All accounting majors are required to participate in this service, even students who have not taken Acct 341. Each volunteer receives training to help prepare basic tax returns.  After training all volunteers are required to take, and pass, an online test.

The VITA program is a great opportunity to get practical experience on how to prepare tax returns. The only way to know how to do a tax return (even your own) is to actually prepare one.
